As an alternative to the traditional Easter gathering, my ex and I decided to buy some tickets for a Twins game and enjoy the day outside with our daughter.
It is no secret that the Twins are one of the hottest tickets in town and I spent several days working through listings on Craigslist to see if I could find the best combination of cost and location to enjoy the game. Since neither of us are real Twins fans – we knew that this would likely be the only game we’d see this entire year, so I was willing to pay a little extra for good seats.
After a couple of failed attempts to secure three tickets (an odd number) on Craigslist, I decided to just try the main Twins website and see what showed up. I was a little surprised to find some awesome seats (fairly expensive at $65/ticket – but within my price range) that positioned us right behind home plate and only a few rows into the really good viewing section. I couldn’t have asked for better spots – as my Craiglist searching was yielding the same ticket price, but far worse seat locations.
The day was nearly perfect for a game, with temperatures starting in the mid-50s. Once we got to the ballpark, we realized that our seats were still in the sunshine, so we loaded up on some sunscreen and enjoyed a little Vitamin D that has been sorely lacking throughout this long winter.
It was a good game and a joy to experience the awesome Target Field stadium. It is a great place for baseball and, even though I was fully opposed to public-based funding, they at least applied it correctly and built a wonderful park. Each of the seating sections has its own personality and provides a great atmosphere for cheering on the home team.
Both Erin and Candace had to outfit themselves in Twins gear from the souvenir booths since none of us owned any beforehand. Walking through the concourses – EVERYONE had a Twins-based outfit, so it was good to fit into the crowd. I bought a baseball cap to shield my eyes/face from the sun – which becomes important for my ever-increasing baldness at the top of my head.
Overall, it was a great day for baseball, played on a great Minnesota field. The Twins even won the game – so you’d couldn’t ask for a better Sunday afternoon.
